The whole family got together this last weekend and decided to give her the best weekend she's ever had! We spent one day pampering her entirely. We took her to a salon and got her a facial, a hair cut and color, a pedicure and a manicure. After that we took her to a "lobster lunch" and then on a shopping spree! The next day we were all together for a family BBQ at the park and it was one of the happiest days she's ever had! She has been in a program for girls called Mpact for quite a few years now and has officially passed all the requirements and has finished the program! She has worked very hard and I am so proud of her! I went through this same program (previously called Missionettes) and seeing her looking so beautiful yesterday made me so proud! This is a huge accomplishment and I am so proud of you Jurl! I will be here for three months 40 hours a week! My main function is to intern as a recruiter for the foundation. "We want to serve Utah's children by finding, educating and nurturing families to meet the needs of children in foster care." I am currently assisting in organizing an event taking place at the Indian Walk-In Center on May 30th to promote the on-going need for Native families to care for Native children in foster care. It's going to be awesome! It's a huge need so to get awareness into the Native communities will be great! I am currently working on donations of groceries to give to the Native elders participating in the event. I am really looking forward to continuing my internship here and can already tell it's going to be hard to leave!Monicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09035814763161507653noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6398171062172391527.post-68511987802679903872009-05-14T14:27:00.000-07:002009-05-14T14:31:53.829-07:00University of Utah Graduation 2009This last Thursday night (May 7th, 2009) I had my convocation ceremony for the College of Social Work followed by my graduation ceremony on Friday morning (May 8th, 2009.) It was such a great week and even better weekend! My entire family made the whole week very special for me. We had family in from out of town all weekend who came to show their support and I felt very honored and loved from all of them! It's such a good feeling to be done with classes! I have an internship to complete over the Summer to make it official and I can put those "SSW" letters behind my name. :)Monicahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09035814763161507653noreply@blogger.com0
